Who seeks coaching
Who is coaching for ?
Coaching is a good fit for adolescent boys and men who are ready and willing to work on themselves. Parents or sponsors who support a young man may desire help for their loved one, but a coaching relationship is only successful if the client is motivated to engage.
Coaching is a great fit for men who are navigating difficult situations, feeling stuck or lost, as well as:
-
struggling academically, socially or with your career
-
wanting to become a better parent
-
wanting to be more creative and authentic
-
wrestling with unhealthy coping skills
-
dealing with change or loss
-
wanting to reach goals that seem unattainable
-
wanting to perform better in sports and work on your mental game
-
feeling lost and looking for clarity on making decisions about the future
-
trying to live healthier, more balanced lives
What's the difference between coaching and therapy?
Therapists treat mental and emotional health concerns and are trained in diagnosing and treating mental illnesses like depression or anxiety. Coaching aims to help people who are already operating at "functional" levels. Coaching is generally goal and future focused while therapy often involves engaging more with the past. Working with both a therapist and a coach can be a great combination.
